Thanks for your ...
Thanks for your comment. It's great that we can learn from each other. Not easy to balance 3 light sources. I would have metered for the lamps probably about 1/15s, balanced with flash, then took another exposure metered for the window and made a composit in Photohop. You would then have the option to adjust the window in levels depending if you wanted it slighly under or over. I know Dom may have? been hand held on that occasion but it's not that hard to achieve.
flash is just a ...
flash is just a light that turns on and then turns off again- it's just light, so if for example you set your? flash power to full and shoot at f8, then shoot at f11 and you have half the light coming in, your scene will be darker. But the flash can be many times brighter than the desk lamps (and with enough flash power even brighter than the sun), so when you have a strong flash, and a strong sun, the weak table lamps don't really add any light at all

Hi Dom
Like and watch your videos a lot. I was wondering though that at around 4.50 your vid you say that you don't get much brightness from the lights (bedside table lamps) because you are shooting at f5.? Is it not true that flash is affected by aperture and contant light is affected by shutter speed?
Keep up the good work.

Great info. But for us newbies? it's pretty complicated. So you, while in the room are doing all these gymnastics for each shot? It must take you an hour to shoot a house.

Hey Dom,
Love the technique, but what do you do if you? have a very large room (eg. open living with dining, kitchen and living all in one area) or high or dark colour ceiling?
Ok, thanks. I didnt ...
Ok, thanks. I didnt really think of that. I will probably use? my 18-105 om my DX body because thats the widest lens I have. Which is not at all the ultimate lens for property/interior photography. I guess that I have to think a bit different. For example at least f8 and let the flash work a bit more and let in more ambient light.
I will probably use a tripod as well for slower shutter speeds.

i am shooting hand held and that will slow things down and if you check the blog you will? see shots before and after. also with super wide angle lenses everything is in hyper focus even at f2.8

Why not set the aperture to ~8-11 so as much is sharp as possible? And let the flash and the shutter do the? rest?
